Online Coaching Q&A
Background
I live and work away from Essex with an infant son and a full time office job that is mixed between at home and office. Like many desk based workers snacking and sitting had seen a waistline increase combined with an energy level decrease. Not what or where I wanted to be! So when I came across Laura I believed that her energy and enthusiasm would be great at re-igniting a love for fitness and getting back to healthy living.
What is virtual training?
I enquired about virtual training. This is real live training via webcam done in the comfort of your home at a time that suits you - Laura works long hours Monday - Saturday!
Do I need loads of equipment?
I started out with a few weights and a really cheap set of resistance bands. Whilst I have added additional equipment throughout my training journey it is not essential. In reality some of the most arduous training sessions have involved little more than bodyweight exercises. So dependent on your aims you can do virtual training with very little to no equipment. The main thing you will need is a decent internet connection and a webcam device.
Is it as good as in person PT?
You will receive the same professional support and attention both in and outside your sessions. I have seen my form and understanding of different exercises improve greatly. Laura is very skilled at describing how to perform exercises and will show you how to themselves. Motivation and energy levels are always fantastic.
What about extra support?
There is support available via mobile, WhatsApp and a Facebook support group. I have always felt able to get answers or support in a timely, friendly and empathetic way. You feel like you are in it together with your trainer and the other troopers.
What about nutrition?
Laura will be able to monitor your nutrition and eating habits remotely. Meal plan options are available for those that wish to have extra support.
Will I see results?
Like so much in life you get out what you put in. Saying that I have found it easy to commit to opting for healthier habits and working out outside of sessions as well as in them. The enthusiasm and support of the trainers helps motivate that. Personally I have seen a loss of almost 7 kilograms bodyweight all while gaining overall muscle in a recomposition of my body. My biggest change while not visible is an increased energy and sense of confidence.
In summary if you want convenience for distance, time or any other reason virtual training is a fabulous option that can really get you feeling fitter and happier.
